In this role, you’ll build performant, accessible, intuitive, and visually engaging features that connect millions of users with vetted procedures and providers. As an individual contributor, you’ll partner closely with design, product, and backend teams to create elegant, reliable, and scalable frontend systems across our platform. You’ll help evolve RealSelf’s modern frontend architecture, enhance our design system, and contribute to initiatives spanning discovery, consumer engagement, conversion, and provider growth.Key Responsibilities:Build and maintain high-quality, scalable frontend features using Next.js, React, and TypeScriptCollaborate with designers and product managers to translate complex user needs into clean, performant UI solutionsContribute to RealSelf’s shared UI component library and design system, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and ease of reuse across the platform. Implement modern rendering patterns (SSR, ISR, and streaming) to optimize performance and SEOIntegrate securely with backend APIs, leveraging React Query, Suspense, and server actions for efficient data fetchingImprove site performance, accessibility (WCAG compliance), and Core Web Vitals through measurement and optimizationCollaborate with backend, data, and DevOps teams on API design, caching strategies, and deployment workflowsConduct thorough code reviews, write reliable tests, and maintain high code quality standardsAdvocate for frontend best practices, tooling improvements, and developer productivity initiativesUse AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.) to accelerate delivery and enhance qualityRequirements:5+ years of professional frontend development experienceExpertise in React, Next.js (App Router), and TypeScriptStrong grasp of SSR, SSG, and hybrid rendering for SEO and performanceDeep understanding of CSS architecture (Tailwind, SCSS, CSS Modules, BEM) and responsive designExperience integrating with APIs, handling async data, and building robust state management solutions (React Query, Zustand, Redux Toolkit, etc.)Experience building or contributing to design systems and component librariesStrong accessibility, testing, and performance optimization skillsProficiency with modern frontend build pipelines, CI/CD, and Git-based workflowsExcellent collaboration and communication skills; comfortable in cross-functional environmentsDemonstrated ability to own large-scale frontend projects from concept to productionBonus Qualities:Experience building consumer web products or marketplaces at scaleFamiliarity with analytics, experimentation frameworks (A/B testing), and event trackingPrior work on personalization, search, or recommendation systemsExperience integrating payments, bookings, or user onboarding flowsKnowledge of server components, Suspense, and streaming architecturesExperience with web performance monitoring tools (e.g., Lighthouse, Datadog RUM)Contributions to open-source frontend frameworks or developer toolingBenefits: You’ll work alongside our inspiring world-class team to create content and build products that connect and empower millions of people around the world, wherever they may be on their aesthetics journeyHealth benefits: We offer comprehensive benefits for medical, dental and vision 100% paid for by RealSelf at the employee levelWork-life balance: Enjoy paid time off, including no work on your birthday and Summer Fridays, as well as generous leave options for life events such as becoming a parent. 401(k) matching: Plan for the future and take advantage of our 401(k) plan with a company matchTreatment reimbursement: At RealSelf, we encourage our team to walk in our audience’s shoes.
